The water analyses given in this bulletin have been selected from a list or many thousand samples analyzed in the Agricultural Experiment Station during the past twenty years. The analyses are being made available in this form to supply the demand for information on the quality of irrigation, municipal and domestic water supplies in the state.

The undersigned , being the executive secretary of the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the state of Arizona, hereby certifies that the following is a true and correct copy of the rules and regulations of the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the State of Arizona relating to the conservation of geothermal resources, which were duly adopted by this commission by the Title 27, Chapter 4; Article 4. Said rules and regulation have been filed with the office of the secretary of State on the 23rd day of June, 1972.

This Brochure is a cooperative effort of the Arizona Development Board, the Oil and Gas Association of Arizona, and the Arizona Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Its specific purpose is to set forth accurately, briefly and concisely the total picture regarding Arizona's oil, gas and helium potential, the general and specific geologic areas, the land and lease situation with specific emphasis on federal, State, Fee and Indian lands, the gas and oil pipelines, possible new lines, the helium plant coverage and a factual presentation of the general economic climate in the state of Arizona

Prepared to acquaint newcomers to Arizona as to the availability of well data, Stratigraphic logs, Geophysical logs, samples of drill-bit cuttings, cores, maps of various kinds, geophysical and geological data and publication, photography , and miscellaneous information from government agencies, academic institutions and other sources.

The following matrix summarizes the water quality data and related hydraulic data available for Pima County. The matrix is based on information that PAG obtained by mailing a questionnaire to various organizations, by conducting telephone interviews, and by browsing the internet. This matrix is only a summary; the information is presented in more detail in the following section of this report, along with brief descriptions of the agencies that collect water quality data.

Twenty-Seven thermal springs in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah were sampled for detailed chemical and isotopic analysis. Sampling in New Mexico and Utah was confined to known geothermal resource areas as designated by the U.S. Geological Survey.

This Directory has been prepared to identify for easy reference numerous sources of information relating to exploration for Arizona's petroleum and geothermal resources.

The map indexes consist predominantly of maps published by the U.S. Geological Survey, AZ state agencies and Universities, and professional societies.

Thermal springs are widely distributed throughout the world but are most numerous in areas in which there has been volcanic activity in late geologic time. A review of the available literature has revealed much information on the location of the springs, the temperature of the water, the rate of flow, the chemical character of the water and evolved gases, and the uses made of the water. All such information has been tabulated by countries or geographic areas and is present in the first part of this report. Accompanying the tabulated data for each country or geographic area is a brief description of the geology and a map showing the location of the springs. The second part of the report consists of a list of references, some annotated briefly, to the literature on thermal springs. The references are grouped by countries or geographic areas and within each group are arranged in alphabetical order by author. However, for ease of citation throughout the report, the references have been assigned consecutive numbers.
