Description: 
Geothermal Administrative Boundaries (Fields). Digital well locations can be found in a compressed EXE file that contains the well location database geothermal wells in the state of California. The data contained in the dataset includes Geothermal field polygons names, and area.The file should be downloaded to your computer, then uncompressed by double clicking on it. The file will extract into a DBF file that can be imported into your mapping software. The software used by the Division of Oil, Gas, & Geothermal Resources to prepare the maps is MapInfo, but other mapping software should be able to import the DBF files. The information contained in the file includes API number, operator, well name and number, section, township, and range, and the latitude and longitude (the map projection used is Latitude/Longitude-NAD27 for Continental United States).Projection: Lat/Long; Datum: NAD 27, Clark 1866; Units: Feet; Coverage: State of California

Quality Statement: 
A field shall contain at least one well capable of producing geothermal resources in commercial quantities. The supervisor shall establish the boundaries by graphically constructing a one-mile square around each well capable of producing geothermal resources in commercial quantities. Each such well shall be at the center of a square.
