Montana Spring Aqueous Chemistry

Basic Information
Author:
Icopini, Gary
Author:
Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology
Description:
This dataset contains aqueous spring chemistry observations compiled by the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology, and published as a Web feature service for the National Geothermal Data System. Fields in the Aqueous Chemistry Observation Content Model will become XML elements in interchange documents for WMS simple features provided by a node in the USGIN network. Each feature includes an Analysis Name, fluid temperature, suite of chemistry analytical results and Source. The dataset is spatially referenced to EPSG: 4326 (for interoperability). The data contained in the submitted dataset is available as an Excel Spreadsheet, ESRI service, WMS and WFS service. Field Notes- Thermal Springs of Arizona

Basic Information
Author:
Witcher, J. C.
Description:
"Identification of truly thermal springs is an indispensable aid in the assessment of a region's geothermal characteristics. Over the years numerous lists of thermal springs in Arizona have been compiled and we present yet another. Although the word thermal implies heat, there is considerable subjective or arbitrariness in its application. In geothermal work what is important is anomalous or unusual heat-something above a norm. A functional scheme has been devised that is useful in identifying those Arizona springs judged to be carrying anomalous heat. The method is readily applied to any new springs that may be encountered. The results of this updated version are shown in Table 1. Also, possible heat sources are briefly outlined in the text."
