Description:
This dataset contains wellheader features compiled by the Arizona Geological Survey, and published as a Web feature service for the National Geothermal Data System. Fields in the Wellheader Feature Content Model will become XML elements in interchange documents for WMS simple features provided by a node in the USGIN network. Each observation includes a WellName, WellType, Latitude and Longitude spatially referenced to EPSG: 4326 (for interoperability). The data contained in the submitted dataset is available as an Excel Spreadsheet, ESRI service, WMS and WFS service. 1,146 wellheader features are included in the dataset. Washington Well Header data

Basic Information
Author:
Jeff Bowman
Author:
Jessica Czajkowski
Description:
Information was provided to the Division of Geology and Earth Resources by operators and filed. Beginning in 1947, Information Circulars were created from the filed information provided by the operators. Points were created and attributed from information contained in these Information Circulars and addendums. Different methods were used to generate these points. Some were programmatically generated, some approximated using section divisions, and others were electronically measured from section lines. It was known that some of the well locations were in error for two reasons. Firstly, the spreadsheet data came from sources one or more iterations removed from the original data. Original data is located in hard-copy files maintained by the Washington Division of Geology and Earth Resources (Livingston, 1958; McFarland, 1981; McFarland, 1983; oil and gas addendum) pursuant to the Oil and Gas Conservation Act, Chapter 146 (RCW 78.52.001 to 78.52-550), and in hard-copy files for some wells drilled prior to 1954 when the Oil and Gas Conservation Act went into effect. Secondly, the program used to generate the initial latitude-longitude locations did not yield locations as precise as the original file information would allow. Therefore, we reviewed the locations in the hard-copy files and 1) corrected the township, range, section, and within section location data in the spreadsheet, and 2) added information for wells that had been permitted under the Oil and Gas Conservation Act but not drilled. For most records the location in the original hard-copy files is in the form of township, range, section, distance from the north or south section line, and distance from the east or west section line. In other cases, especially for wells drilled prior to the Oil and Gas Conservation Act, that degree of detail is not available.

The Nature and Occurrence of Geopressured Resource Areas in the State Of California, USA

Basic Information
Author:
Sanyal, S.K.
Author:
Robertson-Tait, A.
Description:
The publicly available database on oil and gas fields in California provides a significant and consistent source of information which can be used to evaluate geopressure. A total of 410 pools have pressure gradients exceeding 0.45 psi/foot; these are considered to be potentially geopressured. At least 70 of these have pressures distinctly higher than predicted by the regional hydrostatic gradient, and 8 pools are super pressured.

Subsurface Temperature Maps State of Arizona

Basic Information
Author:
J.N. CONLEY
Author:
O.A. STACEY
Description:
This publication presents a tabulation of the temperature and associated data of subsurface rocks and two maps showing the location of wells for which temperature information is available in the files of the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Most of this information consists of the bottom hole temperatures measured by geophysical log surveys of wells drilled for oil, natural gas, and helium in the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau tectonic province of Arizona. It represents the first phase of a subsurface temperature project designed primarily for the use of earth scientists interested in the geothermal-energy potential of the state. The second phase of the project will present surface water temperature and associated data of numerous wells drilled for irrigation and other purposes located mostly in the Basin and Range tectonic province of Arizona.
